"The Future of Mississippi's Gulf Coast"

At Mississippi Policy Forum, we believe now is the time for open dialogue as we reshape and rebuild our beloved Gulf Coast. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and take part in our public forum by offering your valuable input as our state attempts to rebuild the crown jewel of Mississippi’s natural heritage in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

What should the reconstructed Gulf Coast look like? How can we balance construction strength with affordability? Development with quality of life? What are our options for protection against such a storm in the years to come? Is a sea wall or another type of defensive barrier needed, or would a better approach be to encourage development further back from the shore? What measures are necessary to restore our environment?

These and many other questions confront each and every Mississippian, and are far too important to be answered only by a select few. In the space provided, feel free to discuss your thoughts and ideas for rebuilding and restoring this premier area of our state.

In the wake of Katrina’s devastation, we believe this reconstruction and restoration of our Gulf Coast has been entrusted to all of us – again, not just a select few – to ensure what materializes is for the betterment of Mississippi and the enjoyment of generations yet unborn.

Thanks again for your participation. Together, we can make a difference.
